Abstract
This paper provides an overview, analyzes and comments on the modulus of elasticity of concrete in compression, which determined according to design standards for concrete structures in the world. The value of Ec according to Vietnamese standard TCVN 5574:2018 is about 1.42 times the value of Ec according to American, Canadian, Japanese, and New Zealand standards. When Ec is sensitive to calculated quantities or when design conditions are critical, Ec should be specified or determined by testing.
