Abstract
Based on the real story of pig farmer Robert Pickton, a serial killer charged with the murders of twenty-six women in his farm in Canada, Pig Girl (2015) exploits animal images to convey the terror and torture of one of his victims, tellingly named Dying Woman. Adopting a postcolonial and gender approach, this article studies how Colleen Murphy uses the bestial iconography in Pig Girl to tackle gender-based violence, particularly towards marginalized and Indigenous women in Canada.
