Prevalencia de eventos adversos en artroplastias de cadera y rodilla tras la aplicación de listas de verificación quirúrgicas

Abstract
Objetivo: identificar la prevalencia de eventos adversos en pacientes sometidos a artroplastias de cadera y rodilla tras la implementación de listas de verificación quirúrgicas. Método: investigación evaluativa del tipo análisis de efectos, realizada en tres períodos: antes (0- 2010) y después de la intervención (I- 2013; II- 2016), mediante consulta retrospectiva en una muestra aleatoria simple de 291 historias clínicas, entre noviembre de 2020 y marzo de 2022. Se utilizaron los formularios del Canadian Adverse Events Study y Global Trigger Tool para rastrear y confirmar eventos adversos. Los casos fueron analizados mediante estadística descriptiva e inferencial; valores p ≤ 0,05 indicaron significancia estadística. Resultados: en los períodos posteriores a la implementación de listas de verificación quirúrgicas, se observó una reducción en la frecuencia de pacientes afectados por dos o más eventos, del 27,8 % al 11,3 % (p = 0,002), y en la prevalencia general, del 63,9 % al 36,1 % (p < 0,001). Hubo una disminución en la prevalencia de pacientes afectados por retención urinaria (33 % al 3,1 %; p < 0,001) y hemorragia (9,3 % al 0 %; p = 0,012). Se registró un aumento en la prevalencia de lesiones cutáneas, del 2,1 % al 10,3 % (p = 0,043). Conclusión: hubo una reducción en la prevalencia general y en la frecuencia de eventos adversos en pacientes sometidos a artroplastia tras la implementación de listas de verificación.
