Abstract
Abstract Founded in 1997, the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) is one of the largest faith-based organizations in Canada, similar to the Islamic Society of North America and the Islamic Circle of North America. It is a Canadian charitable organization and a grassroots social movement. MAC regularly organizes events for Canadian Muslims such as for the month of Ramadan, celebrating Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, along with an annual conference held in Toronto. It also advocates for Muslims and hosts various programs for youth, conducts community-building projects, and gives out scholarships to secondary and postsecondary students. MAC has local chapters in fourteen cities across Canada and has over 150,000 members. Its national office is located in Mississauga, Ontario. According to Charity Intelligence Canada, MAC received $15.3 million in donations in 2023, along with $6 million in government funding. MAC is not affiliated with any political organizations inside or outside of Canada.
