Abstract
Résumé À l’aide des données de l’Enquête sociale générale – Les soins donnés et reçus de 2018, nous avons étudié les caractéristiques des aidants des personnes avec des incapacités ou des troubles du développement (ITD) et les répercussions de la prestation de soins sur ces aidants. La proportion d’aidants de personnes avec des ITD dont la santé générale et la santé mentale étaient optimales était inférieure à celle des non-aidants. Environ deux tiers des aidants de personnes avec des ITD ont déclaré se sentir inquiets ou anxieux, ou fatigués et près de la moitié ont fait état de besoins de soutien non satisfaits. Cependant, par rapport aux aidants de personnes atteints d’autres problèmes de santé, une proportion significativement plus élevée d’aidants de personnes avec des ITD ont décrit leurs expériences d’aidant comme étant gratifiantes.
