Abstract
Jewish academics in the world of Jewish Studies think rather differently than most people, other Jews included, about the Bible, Jewish history, and the authority of Jewish law and tradition. Yet most of us remain committed, in one way or another, to living Jewish lives. This can lead to inner conflict and to tense relationships with the communities we are part of.
