It stresses that while Australia's strategies generally align with global practices, unique factors require commercialisation to benefit the country. It also emphasises the need for a robust business plan that includes strategies for overseas markets, given Australia's small domestic market. The chapter explains the critical role of listing patents in Canada under the Patented Medicines Regulations, which create a legal linkage between regulatory approval and patent protection. It explores India’s evolving approach, where intellectual property is increasingly viewed as a vital asset, and patents must pass tests such as vendibility to ensure commercial viability.
