To the Editor: In the comparison of colchicine with placebo in the CLEAR trial, Jolly et al. (Feb. 13 issue) 1 found that among patients who had an acute myocardial infarction, treatment with colchicine, when started within 72 hours after the index percutaneous coronary intervention, did not reduce the incidence of death from cardiovascular causes, recurrent myocardial infarction, stroke, or unplanned ischemia-driven coronary revascularization (the composite primary outcome). Their findings differ from those of the Colchicine Cardiovascular Outcomes Trial (COLCOT), in which colchicine led to a significantly lower risk of a composite primary end-point event than placebo in patients who underwent . . .
