Abstract
De nombreux enseignants quittent la profession après quelques années d’exercice. La qualité de l’expérience d’insertion professionnelle des enseignants débutants constitue un enjeu prioritaire pour un nombre croissant de conseils scolaires au Canada. Cet article présente les points de vue de 27 nouveaux enseignants qui se sont exprimés sur le jumelage mentor/mentoré, sur la structure et la nature des rencontres avec le mentor et sur l’expérience de relation mentorale qu’ils ont vécue. L’analyse des données recueillies a permis de mettre en évidence les enjeux associés à deux des principales fonctions du mentor, soit l’accompagnement professionnel et le soutien personnel.
