Abstract
La metapoesía de Guillermo Carnero (Valencia, 1947) suele interpretarse, sobre todo en su primera etapa (1967-1975), como insuficiencia epistemológica, representadora y comunicadora del lenguaje poético. Se propone una lectura metapoética alternativa del poema “Castilla” de Dibujo de la muerte (1967), donde un antiguo tópico metaliterario (el flumen orationis o “río de la escritura”) y la recuperación de léxico ligado a lo épico enaltecen los dones creativos del lenguaje poético. Se entablan relaciones con autores como Luis de Góngora o Antonio Machado para repensar lo español y castellano en una reivindicación del discurso histórico nacional a través de la poesía de Carnero.
