Abstract

(Reg Anesth Pain Med. 2024;49:471–501. doi: 10.1136/rapm-2023-104817) Postdural puncture headache (PDPH) is a complication of dural puncture, either during epidural or spinal anesthesia administration. The symptoms (headache, neck stiffness, hearing reduction) associated with PDPH may be severe and affect daily activities. The management and prevention of PDPH has been examined, yet standards for medical care have not been identified. This evidence-based clinical practice guidelines seeks to provide more concrete guidelines for prevention, identification, and management of PDPH. A committee designed of delegates from various interested societies and medical specialties contributed to this study. A set of recommendations were agreed upon by said delegates through a process of submitting clinical questions, literature search and review, and voting through a modified Delphi approach. The following clinical questions were presented.
