Abstract
The recognition of experiential knowledge is akin to contributing to a person’s recovery. In Quebec, this belief must be reflected by the inclusion of consumers on both the professional and social levels. The hiring of such consumers falls under this same line of thinking. However, peer intervention does not fall under the same umbrella as simila intervention in the mental health network. Recognition of the person as well as valuing their past experiences constitutes major aspects for organizations that target genuine recovery. As a result, we can’t just train consumers for hiring purposes. Beforehand, we must work on intervention awareness, review our framework and practices, as well as focus on ethical questions. The Peer Support Network is based on these needs and is a first within the francophone mental health network.
