Abstract
Plusieurs écrits suggèrent que le contexte de jeu peut soutenir l’apprentissage et l’enseignement des mathématiques, notamment en probabilités. Nous abordons dans cet article des enjeux à considérer lors du recours au contexte de jeu, afin de contribuer à une réflexion probabiliste de l’élève et éviter les glissements vers un contrat de jeu où l’unique but serait de jouer. Nous nous appuyons sur des définitions de jeu mathématique pour proposer une définition de jeu probabiliste. La situation « Pile ou face ? » a été planifiée, puis expérimentée dans une classe multiniveau de 4e et 5e années d’une école primaire. Parmi les résultats analysés, nous faisons ressortir quatre catégories d’enjeux et de glissements du pilotage en classe du jeu probabiliste qui ont contribué à la tension entre un contrat de jeu et une réflexion probabiliste sur ce jeu.
