Abstract
Introduo: A fragilidade, no contexto senil, um fenmeno clnico progressivo, relacionado idade avanada, fundamentado no grau de dependncia e de desempenho funcional, estando, assim, atrelado cognio e ao estado geral de sade da pessoa idosa.Dessa forma, prejudica-se a habilidade do organismo em manter a homeostase, predispondo o idoso aos efeitos deletrios sobre diversos sistemas orgnicos e contribuindo para um acentuado declnio em sua qualidade de vida.Objetivo: O presente estudo tem por objetivo averiguar a sade, caractersticas sociodemogrficas e fragilidade em pessoas idosas quilombolas.Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo exploratrio descritivo com abordagem quantitativa, realizado com 62 idosos com mais de 60 anos, de ambos os sexos, pertencentes s comunidades de remanescentes quilombolas no interior da Bahia.Foram pesquisados dados sociodemogrficos, condies de sade e fragilidade, a qual foi avaliada atravs da escala de Edmonton.Resultados: Houve uma maior frequncia do sexo feminino (59,7%), com 70 ou mais anos (51,6%), casadas(os) (64,5%), que no sabem ler e escrever (77,4%) e com renda familiar de 2 salrios mnimos (50,0%).Verificou-se que 88,7% das pessoas idosas quilombolas apresentaram doenas crnicas, sendo mais frequente a hipertenso arterial sistmica (35,5%), a hipertenso arterial sistmica associada ao acidente vascular enceflico (17,7%) e a hipertenso arterial sistmica associada ao diabetes mellitus e ao acidente vascular enceflico (16,1%).61,3% das pessoas idosas quilombolas apresentaram a presena de fragilidade, sendo 22,6% classificadas como aparentemente vulnervel (5 a 6 pontos) e 19,4% com fragilidade leve (7 a 8 pontos).Concluso: Conclui-se que a maioria das pessoas idosas quilombolas apresentou fragilidade e doenas crnicas, estando essas diretamente relacionadas s condies socioeconmicas em que estes esto inseridas; sendo, dessa forma, necessrias polticas pblicas de promoo sade e preveno a fragilidade, considerando o
