La politique industrielle verte s’est récemment imposée comme une stratégie centrale dans la lutte contre les changements climatiques. Ce type de politique climatique n’est pas entièrement nouveau. Il a été implicitement appliqué par le passé pour développer des technologies vertes. Mais aujourd’hui, les gouvernements ont recours à cette stratégie de façon plus explicite pour atteindre des objectifs à la fois économiques, environnementaux et géopolitiques. L’objectif de ce court article est de vulgariser certains enjeux relatifs à l’émergence de cette nouvelle génération de politiques industrielles vertes. Il présente la nouvelle raison d’être de ce type de politique climatique, explore certains des défis rencontrés par des expérience passées et esquisse quelques lignes directrices pour guider l’élaboration d’une politique industrielle verte robuste.
