Alors que les regards du monde convergent vers les grands événements, l’impact environnemental qui les accompagne soulève des questions cruciales quant à la gouvernance de leur décarbonisation. Cet article explore les défis majeurs rencontrés dans cette quête de durabilité, notamment l’efficacité des instruments politiques, tels que les normes et les certifications environnementales. L’évaluation de ces outils révèle des lacunes notables, telles que le manque de clarté dans la délimitation des frontières opérationnelles du bilan GES, l’inefficacité des systèmes de vérification existants et les difficultés relationnelles entre les parties prenantes impliquées. La complexité croissante des grands événements, associée au nombre élevé de parties prenantes impliquées, complique la représentation précise du bilan global, notamment en ce qui concerne les émissions indirectes telles que celles du transport aérien. Pour réaliser une véritable réduction des émissions, il est essentiel de reconnaître l’impact significatif du Scope 3 sur l’inventaire GES global de ces événements. Cette reconnaissance appelle à une modernisation des cadres de gestion pour mieux encadrer les émissions indirectes. Parallèlement, une approche intégrée est indispensable, impliquant la promotion de modes de transport durables et l’élaboration de politiques visant spécifiquement à réduire les émissions de l’aviation.
