Peculiarities of the Development of the Canadian Oil Sector in the Context of Strengthening American Protectionism

Abstract
The article examines the development features of the Canadian oil sector, an important segment of the national economy of Canada, one of the leading oil-producing countries in the world. The stages of evolution of the Canadian oil sector, the impact of American investments on its development, and issues of competition with American companies are examined. The problems of the creation and operation of the trans-Canadian oil pipeline system connecting oil production areas in Canada with the locations of American oil refineries are considered. The main routes of export flows of Canadian oil are analyzed. The US policy towards the Canadian oil sector is examined in the context of the adoption of the new tariff policy of 2025. The interest of American oil refineries in the supply of Canadian heavy oil to the American market is substantiated. It is concluded that that Canada's desire is to diversify oil and oil product exports and reduce dependence on the United States.
