Abstract
Faisant face à une crise environnementale manifeste, les États africains ne se soustraient point aux appels du paradigme du développement durable, et ce, au travers de la constitutionnalisation du droit à un environnement sain. Cette constitutionnalisation entend, de la sorte, constituer un levier à l’objectivation du développement durable en Afrique. Cependant, la portée de ce levier s’avère mitigée. En effet, à travers l’interprétation des instruments juridiques pertinents, de la jurisprudence nationale et régionale, et de l’analyse de la pratique institutionnelle et sociale en lien avec l’environnement, il ressort que la constitutionnalisation du droit à un environnement sain apparaît comme un levier du développement durable à fort potentiel, mais un levier qui présente encore une faible portée.
