Abstract
Canadian researchers, politicians and security services have expressed concern regarding the rise of the “far right.” However, it remains unclear whether this has also translated into an increase in violence motivated by far-right beliefs. Examining the period between 1990 and 2020, this study uncovers a chronic level of severe violence occurring across Canada. Despite a significant decline in violence being perpetrated by those affiliated with organized far-right groups, more recently there has been an increase in the overall number of attacks. The following provides a baseline of knowledge that better informs policy decisions, and builds a platform for future studies.
