Abstract
mi vida académica, partiendo por los primeros años de formación básica y secundaría en Valparaíso, Chile.Luego relato algunas anécdotas de mi vida universitaria y mi trabajo en el Centro de Alumnos de la Escuela o en la Federación de Estudiantes, tareas que no me dejaban suficiente tiempo para ir a clases.Un buen amigo y compañero del curso asistía a clases y me pasaba sus apuntes cada fin de semana, Yo copiaba las materias de la semana y me preparaba así para mis exámenes.En este relato continúo con algunos pasajes de mi vida universitaria en Chile y el posgrado en Chile y Estados Unidos.Detallo la obtención de mi cargo en propiedad (tenure) en la Universidad de McGill en Canadá, donde me quedé hasta mi retiro, como Profesor Titular, para luego ser galardonado con el grado de Profesor Emérito.Termino este texto dando algunos detalles de mis contribuciones a la investigación a través de numerosas publicaciones en revistas científicas, una monografía y un texto de estudio.Espero que este relato sirva para motivar a jóvenes de hoy y de mañana, para que vean que la vida académica y de investigación es una noble y reconfortante forma de vida.
