Abstract
Les années soixante aux États-Unis ont été une décennie turbulente. L’un des principaux éléments de cette transformation sociale, sociétale et culturelle est sans nul doute la « révolution psychédélique » qui a profondément secoué la Californie en général et le quartier de Haight-Ashbury à San Francisco en particulier. La déferlante psychédélique a radicalement transformé la Californie. Le terme psychédélique est un néologisme qui a été popularisé par Timothy Leary, en 1961. Dans cet article, nous chercherons à expliquer en quoi consistait véritablement cette révolution psychédélique. Quels étaient les tenants et aboutissants des « trips » sous LSD ? Quelles étaient les figures de proue du psychédélisme ? En quoi le LSD a-t-il transformé la société américaine et a-t-il été l’un des éléments les plus marquants de la contre-culture des années soixante ?
