Abstract
Dans le cadre de notre contemporanéité occidentale, usage de drogues et voyage sont deux pratiques sociales qui prennent un sens particulier et parfois conjoint. Il semble même que les deux puisent dans certaines valeurs communes et se retrouvent ainsi irrésistiblement liés, entretenant de réelles « affinités électives ». L’engouement actuel pour les techniques exotiques de néo-chamanisme nécessitant parfois l’ingestion de plantes psychotropes parle très clairement en ce sens. Nous pensons notamment à l’enthousiasme des Occidentaux pour les rituels d’ayahuasca depuis une vingtaine d’années. À partir du concept d’affinité élective, il est possible de complexifier notre regard sur ces deux aspects de nos sociétés et de dépasser une lecture monocausale et un déterminisme unilatéral. Drogues et voyages sont à la fois un pur produit de notre modernité, ils en révèlent donc le sens, mais aussi une démarche de dépassement, voire de refus de cette dernière. En ce sens, ces deux formes sociales peuvent être comprises comme des techniques de réenchantement du monde.
