Abstract
Zusammenfassung Die Behandlung der Adipositas hat mit Inkretin-basierten Therapien wie GLP-1- und GIP/GLP-1-Agonisten einen bedeutenden Fortschritt erfahren. Diese Therapien zeigen beeindruckende Erfolge in der Gewichtsreduktion und adressieren Adipositas als multifaktorielle Erkrankung mit genetischen, psychologischen und soziokulturellen Ursachen. Adipositas wird heute als eigenständige Krankheit mit schwerwiegenden Komorbiditäten wie Typ-2-Diabetes, Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen, verschiedenen Krebsarten und arthritischen Erkrankungen anerkannt. Gleichzeitig ist die gesellschaftliche Stigmatisierung übergewichtiger Menschen weit verbreitet, was ihre physische und psychische Gesundheit zusätzlich belastet. Neue medikamentöse Ansätze wirken durch die Förderung des Sättigungsgefühls und erfordern wahrscheinlich eine lebenslange Anwendung, um einen dauerhaften Effekt zu erzielen. Auch bariatrische Chirurgie bleibt eine Option bei schwerer Adipositas, die jedoch eine langfristige Nachsorge erfordert. Lebensstiländerungen wie gesunde Ernährung und Bewegung bleiben essenziell, sind jedoch allein oft nicht ausreichend. Dieser Paradigmenwechsel in der Behandlung unterstreicht die Notwendigkeit einer individuellen, multidisziplinären Herangehensweise.
