Abstract
Highlights-Videogame console emulation allowed participants to play an unmodified classic platformer game, Shinobi III : Return of the Ninja Master, from within the MRI scanner.-32 h combined of gameplay from four players produced a rich, naturalistic fMRI dataset.-Automated RAM mining captured kills, health losses and button presses, a workflow that scales to the entire gym-retro catalog.-GLM analyses turned these annotations into activation maps and benchmarked them against classical functional-localizer results.-Game-derived maps were highly repeatable within individuals, moderately consistent across players, and easily distinguishable by event type.
