This paper presents the design methodology for dual-band impedance matching networks using a cascade configuration of filters and phase shifters. The proposed design offers a simple and linear procedure for matching complex frequency dependent loads. Moreover, the feasibility of this method is not limited by realization limitations encountered in conventional design techniques of dual-band band matching networks. The advantages of the proposed methodology also include design miniaturization, low loss performance, and independent matching of the two bands. The proposed concept is both theoretically and experimentally investigated using two prototype circuits for dual-band matching networks. The simulation and measurement results are in close agreement confirming the validity of the proposed concept.
