Le Diplôme d’Accès aux Études Universitaires (DAEU) offre l’opportunité d’obtenir un diplôme équivalent à celui du baccalauréat. Notre recherche analyse comment le public du DAEU, qui a le plus souvent vécu une situation de décrochage ou de rupture scolaire, parvient à réintégrer un parcours académique. Pour y parvenir, nous avons mené une étude quantitative appuyée sur les travaux existants sur les facteurs d’abandon et réussite académique. Nous obtenons 100 réponses complètes pour une population de référence de 329 personnes. Les raisons les plus fréquentes d’arrêt de la scolarité sont les difficultés personnelles et financières. La motivation annoncée pour suivre le DAEU est principalement liée au souhait de poursuite d’études supérieures et d’évolution professionnelle. Le rôle de l’environnement d’études et en particulier de l’accompagnement des équipes pédagogiques est perçu par les répondants comme positif dans leur processus de raccrochage académique. Notre étude montre ainsi comment un dispositif pour le raccrochage aux études tel que le DAEU peut être perçu comme une « parenthèse de réussite » dans le parcours académique souvent accidenté des participants.
