POS0850 EFFECTS OF SINGLE AND DUAL TASK ON COGNITION AND LOWER EXTREMITY PERFORMANCE IN INDIVIDUALS WITH PRIMARY SJOGREN'S SYNDROME: A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL

Abstract
<h2>Abstract</h2><h3>Background:</h3> Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is an autoimmune disease that is part of a neurological disorder [1]. Memory complaints are common. It is recommended to evaluate cognitive impairments even in the early stages of the disease [2]. It has been reported in the literature that individuals with pSS matched with healthy controls have low physical capacity, functional level and health-related quality of life; fatigue and pain severity are high [3]. However, there are limited studies in the literature on cognitive functions and exercise training in pSS. <h3>Objectives:</h3> This study aimed to examine the effect of telerehabilitation-based single-task and dual-task exercise training on cognitive functions and lower extremity muscle strength in individuals with pSS. <h3>Methods:</h3> A total of 19 voluntary individuals (mean age=58.68±4.15 years) with pSS were included in the study. They were diagnosed with pSS according to 2016 AECG (American-European Consensus Group) criteria and applied to Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Rheumatology, were included in study. The participants were randomly divided into 2 groups. The dual-task exercise training group (intervention group) had 9 participants (mean age=58.77±4.29 years), and the single-task exercise training group (control group) had 10 participants (mean age=58.60±4.24 years). After demographic and disease-related data were recorded, cognitive functions (Montreal Cognitive Assessment-MoCA), dual task assessment (The Timed Up and Go Test- TUG) and lower extremity muscle strength and endurance (30 Second Chair Stand Test-30CST) were assessed at baseline and after the intervention. All participants attended 60-min telerehabilitation-based exercise training (10-min warm up, 40-min functional exercises focused on trunk stabilization, 10-min cool down) three times a week for 8 weeks which was progressively challenged. Intervention group, combined telerehabilitation-based exercise training (functional exercises focused on trunk stabilization, including warm-up and cool-down) with cognitive task. On the other hand, in control group only telerehabilitation-based exercise training was applied. The Mann-Whitney U Test and Wilcoxon test were used to analyze the data. <h3>Results:</h3> After intervention, there were a statistically advanced level of significant improvement in dual task performance rate (p=0.001); dual task error hits (p=0.002); MoCA, TUG and 30CST (p<0.001) in the intervention group. When the delta values were compared, it was significant in favor of the intervention group (p <0.001). <h3>Conclusion:</h3> Telerehabilitation-based exercise training has a positive effect on cognition and lower extremity performance in individuals with pSS when applied together with cognitive task. <h3>REFERENCES:</h3> [1] Riega‐Torres, J.
