Abstract
There is limited research on how family togetherness and hope contribute to the feeling of being at home in resettlement contexts. To address this gap, we used qualitative methods with 18 refugee families from different countries of origin who resettled in Canada. The data indicate refugee families navigate challenges through the dual lenses of family togetherness and hope. Family togetherness and hope are crucial foundational pillars in fostering a sense of being at home. The findings have important implications for refugee policy and practice, emphasizing the need for family reunification and creating environments that nurture hope for a stable future.
