Abstract
Cette réflexion découle de la consultation initiée en novembre 2023 par le Conseil d’administration de l’Institut d’histoire de l’Amérique française (IHAF) concernant la dénomination du prix Lionel-Groulx, le principal prix scientifique décerné par l’Institut. Les membres ont été invités à réfléchir non seulement au nom de ce prix, mais aussi, plus largement, à la vision commémorative que devrait projeter une société savante telle que l’IHAF. Après un historique des débats entourant le prix Lionel-Groulx, le texte rend compte du cadre de la démarche, des résultats de la consultation et des recommandations qui en découlent.
