Abstract
A espiritualidade é importante na promoção da saúde física e psicológica e no enfrentamento aos desafios do avanço da idade. Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa sobre o que é espiritualidade para idosos vivendo em instituições de longa permanência e na comunidade, assim como sobre as necessidades espirituais deles. O artigo discutirá a prática da espiritualidade como alavanca para o bem-estar e a saúde dos idosos e fornecerá uma visão geral de iniciativas criadas para promover a espiritualidade deles.
