Abstract
The 31st edition of the Directory of American Philosophers, published in 2023, provides information on philosophical activities in the United States and Canada. It contains detailed listings for college and university philosophy departments, as well as information on assistantships, research centers, societies, journals, and publishers. Indexes are provided for each category, as well as an alphabetical list, by last name, of all philosophers included in this volume. The content is summarized in a statistical overview showing total philosophy faculty by rank in each state or province. This Directory is the companion volume of the International Directory of Philosophy and Philosophers, which provides information on philosophical activities in Europe, Central and South America, Asia, Africa and Australia. The many editions of both of these publications preserve the primary source of historical data for the field.
