Abstract

Trains have long been an efficient mode of transportation, but as the times have changed so did the complexity of the trains and the train control systems. Earlier trains were mechanical and crude in nature which were intended to carry more volume than going at higher speeds. But modern trains have incorporated various systems that guide them to achieve higher speeds with greater attention towards safety. Trains achieve this feat through improving suspension, tilting mechanisms to negotiate curves and incorporating a train control system which would keep all the systems in sync, and monitor anomalies in the train health. This paper is an attempt to shed light on proposing an implementation of an active tilt system, through an air suspension system and a CAN-BUS protocol-based Transport Layer adaptation for a Train Control System.
