Abstract
O artigo narra nuances da vida da Enfermeira Maria Rosa de Sousa Pinheiro, formada em 1940, em Toronto, Canadá, para tornar-se membro do primeiro corpo docente da Escola de Enfermagem da Universidade de São Paulo. Foi docente, vice-diretora e diretora, constituindo um dos principais pilares de sustentação ética, moral e profissional daquela instituição e de outras da enfermagem brasileira. Foi a primeira mulher do Conselho Universitário da USP. Dedicou a vida à profissão, às alunas e à escola. Além dos feitos profissionais biográficos, relatam-se aqui peculiaridades da sua vida pessoal, gostos e curiosidades, desvelados na nossa longa e rica convivência com ela, como estudantes, residentes e, depois, como docentes da EEUSP. Os que tiveram o privilégio de conhecê-la, jamais a esquecerão, como mulher, enfermeira e, principalmente, como mestra que cumpriu à risca sua missão de mostrar caminhos e desenvolver as potencialidades das suas discípulas.
