A comienzos de 1429, Alfonso V de Aragón llegó a un acuerdo con el infante Enrique de Castilla y el rey Juan de Navarra para organizar un ejército y realizar una incursión militar en Castilla. Su objetivo era presionar al monarca castellano, Juan II, para que restaurase el poder de los infantes de Aragón en el gobierno del reino. Este artículo analiza una de las operaciones militares protagonizadas por dicho ejército, concretamente, el ataque perpetrado contra la localidad de Deza, situada en el extremo oriental de la Corona de Castilla. El acontecimiento clave que se presentará es la agresión sufrida por la comunidad islámica de esta población, cuyos miembros fueron capturados y puestos en venta en Zaragoza y otras ciudades de la Corona de Aragón. El impacto de este hecho en el contexto local fue destacado ya por algunas crónicas de los siglos XV y XVI, si bien, en este trabajo, nos basaremos preferentemente en documentación inédita procedente del Archivo de la Corona de Aragón y del Archivo Histórico de Protocolos Notariales de Zaragoza.
