Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of international practices of sustainable development of higher educational institutions. The work examines key aspects of implementing sustainable development strategies that contribute to economic growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability. The author emphasizes the importance of the Global Sustainable Development Goals approved at the UN summit, which include 17 goals and 169 tasks aimed at forming social relations based on trust, solidarity and generational equality. The article analyses the different approaches to university sustainability in different countries, including the United Kingdom, Sweden, Australia, the United States, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Denmark. For example, UK universities are actively implementing energy-efficient buildings and reducing carbon emissions, while Swedish universities focus on using renewable energy sources and conserving biodiversity. Australian universities are working to reduce their environmental footprint through energy efficiency and waste management initiatives. The author also notes that universities play a key role in the transformation of society by educating future leaders, scientists and entrepreneurs. Sustainable development of universities is aimed at preventing environmental degradation and ensuring justice for future generations. The article provides examples of successful strategies of sustainable development of universities that can be used as a model for other educational institutions. A valuable overview of the foreign experience of sustainable development of universities is provided, emphasizing the importance of integrating economic, social and environmental aspects into the activities of higher education institutions to achieve sustainable development.
