Abstract
Cover Illustration: A method for using mutations collected from environmental DNA (eDNA) to estimate the abundance of aquatic species. eDNA is extracted from water samples, containing shed DNA from various aquatic organisms. The extracted eDNA is sequenced and aligned to references of target species. Segregation sites, representing polymorphisms within populations, are identified from these alignments. The number of segregation sites strongly correlates with species abundance, providing an effective indicator for estimating species abundance from eDNA. Photo Credit: NA
