Dans cet article, nous étudierons la représentation de l’Intelligence Artificielle dans trois récits d’anticipation pour adolescents et jeunes adultes : No man’s land (2013) de Loïc Le Pallec, Le suivant sur la liste (2014-2015) de Manon Fargetton et Scarlett et Novak (2014; 2021) d’Alain Damasio. Ces œuvres retravaillent chacune à leur manière le mythe de la toute-puissance de l’IA. Elle s’y manifeste à travers des figures anthropomorphes, agissantes et interactives avec les humains, mais sa nature algorithmique y est mise en tension avec ses différentes formes de personnification, ce qui invite le lecteur à adopter un point de vue distancié. Dans le premier roman, une IA forte est incarnée dans des robots intelligents, autonomes et perfectibles, dotés d’une sensibilité et d’une conscience. Ils restent toutefois des instruments au service de l’humanité et leur rôle est aussi de rappeler à notre attention les merveilles du vivant. Dans la nouvelle de Damasio, une application dotée d’IA est utilisée à des fins d’augmentation de soi, mais le système est défaillant et son usage crée des addictions et des problèmes d’ordre sécuritaire. Il s’agit donc dans ce récit de rompre avec ces simulacres pour renouer des liens sensibles au réel. Dans le dernier récit, le discours porté sur l’IA s’avère plus ambivalent : un agent conversationnel (chatbot), d’abord conçu pour assurer la continuité post-mortem d’un personnage, s’installe dans le quotidien des principaux protagonistes et finit par acquérir une forme d’ubiquité. Les travers de l’IA ne sont pas éludés, mais, dans une orientation transhumaniste, l’IA y figure au titre des avancées et des acquis du monde contemporain. Ces trois spéculations sur un monde possible dans le futur ouvrent le débat sur l’IA et favorisent une réflexion critique sur le temps présent.
