Abstract
Dans un passage aujourd’hui surprenant de Mythologies, Barthes écrit que les jouets plastiques n’ont pas de « vie posthume ». C’est qu’il voit la vie posthume du côté du fantôme, du spectre, de l’âme sans corps, de la fonction sans matière, plutôt que du côté du déchet, de la matière sans fonction, du corps sans âme. Comme déchet, le plastique a une vie posthume, et c’est justement l’optimisme, ou l’idéalisme, qui lui est associé qui masque sa vie posthume. Le but de cet article est de comparer, et de rapprocher, plastique et IA pour montrer que l’un et l’autre sont associés à un optimisme, un idéalisme qui nous aveugle quant à leur vie posthume. Il s’agit aussi de savoir comment la philosophie, qui vise au réel mais n’a pas de domaine empirique, peut traiter de la crise environnementale et des mutations technologiques. La réponse que nous proposons est : par la fiction et la poésie mais sans optimisme idéaliste.
