Abstract
The basic premise is that for the discourse on human liberation to acquire a coherent ideological meaning it needs to include both men and women.The central hypothesis of this paper is that the power relationships between the sexes imply some undeniable "privileges"for men, but at the same time imply "burdens".Male identity is threatened by intimacy, while female identity is threatened by separation.To overcome this situation a qualitative change in social structures must be promoted to reflect "human" over "feminine" o r "masculine" as power categories.A t a pragmatic level aspects, the possibility exists for creating groups or workshops to encourage the development of conscioussness and social skills, as well as tendering to affective needs.Important experiences in this direction have been taking place in Puerto Rico.
