De 2018 à 2022, François Blais a tenu une chronique au sein de Protégez-vous , une revue qui cherche à transmettre, « toujours avec pertinence et crédibilité, des évaluations de produits, des guides d’accompagnement à l’achat éprouvés ainsi que de pratiques outils d’aide à la décision ». L’analyse thématique et formelle des chroniques de Blais proposée dans cet article met l’accent sur la perspective à partir de laquelle l’auteur représente la société de consommation. De la publicité inefficace jusqu’au vol à l’étalage, en passant par la mort des objets et par l’amour de ce qui est inutile, Blais renverse l’exercice d’évaluation des biens et des habitudes de consommation et délaisse les consommateurs « vigilants, exigeants et à l’affût des tendances » pour dialoguer plutôt avec celles et ceux qui ont mal géré leur argent, qui ont perdu leur temps, avec celles et ceux qui se sont fait avoir.
