¿Influyen los sindicatos y la negociación colectiva en el cumplimiento de las normas del trabajo? Relaciones laborales locales en las cadenas mundiales de suministro

Abstract
En este artículo se examina la influencia de las relaciones laborales locales —los sindicatos y la negociación colectiva— en la mejora de las condiciones de trabajo en las fábricas de confección que exportan a marcas y minoristas multinacionales. A partir de datos de Bangladesh, Camboya, Haití, Indonesia, Jordania, Nicaragua y Viet Nam recogidos por el programa Better Work, se observa que las relaciones laborales locales ayudan a mejorar determinadas condiciones, incluso si la libertad sindical y la negociación colectiva están restringidas. Este resultado corrobora parcialmente la tesis de que las normas del trabajo en el segmento productivo de las cadenas mundiales de suministro pueden mejorar mediante la participación de actores e instituciones locales.
