Abstract
Este trabajo, de corte descriptivo e interpretativo, ofrece un primer acercamiento a los mecanismos de actualización que están presentes en la General estoria de Alfonso X el Sabio. Para ello, primero se presenta el concepto de actualización y se resumen los aspectos más relevantes para su estudio en este texto medieval. Después, la noción se ejemplifica con toda una serie de casos de la obra, en relación a determinados eventos históricos, lugares, costumbres, creencias religiosas, prácticas y propiedades del pasado que se actualizan en el presente, esto es, en el ahora medieval de la época. Entre estos mecanismos destaca la construcción comparativa «como lo fazen agora», los diversos usos del verbo fazer y el adverbio agora, así como otros sintagmas del tipo «en Castilla» y «en España».
