Abstract
å et indblik i "Mejlby" - en jernalderlandsby fra yngre romersk - ældre germansk jernalder (200-550 e.Kr.) Mejlby-udgravningerne nord for Ringkøbing har stået på siden 1990'erne. På adskillige udgravningskampagner har arkæologerne afdækket huse, brønde, ovne, gruber, grøfter og grave fra jernalderen med overvægt af fund fra 500-600-tallet e.Kr. Denne årbogsartikel behandler udgravningerne i 2018-2020, hvor endnu flere huse og en enkelt grav blev føjet til den nu 1,5 km lange bebyggelsesudstrækning. Husene vidner om yngre jernalders pertentlige nedgravning af stolper med brønde og gruber som tegn på hverdagsaktiviteternes karakter; man har gravet efter ler, bygget - og ødelagt - vogne, anlagt brønde til vand og håndværksmæssige formål, tændt op i jernudvindingsovne, varmet sten i kogestensgruber samt fremstillet - og ødelagt - keramik.
