Abstract
À travers l’étude de la pénurie alimentaire pendant le siège de Paris (1870-1871), cet article interroge la dimension sensible de la mobilisation politique qui a mène à la Commune (18 mars - 28 mai 1871). La précarité alimentaire obsidionale — notamment autour du pain, denrée vitale — n’est pas seulement un enjeu matériel, mais aussi un puissant catalyseur d’émotions qui contribuent à la politisation de la population parisienne. La « question du ventre » devient ainsi un important vecteur de mobilisation : les longues files d’attente au seuil des boulangeries, la dégradation de la qualité du pain et l’injustice perçue de sa distribution sont autant de facteurs d’indignation appelés à être politiquement résolus. Les clubs et réunions publiques jouent un rôle crucial dans la collectivisation de ces affects et leur traduction en revendications politiques. Se dessine alors une économie morale républicaine : loin d’une vision paternaliste où l’État aurait un devoir nourricier, les Parisiens exigent une répartition juste et équitable des ressources, que rendrait possible la Commune. Les émotions et affects liés à la faim et à l’inégalité alimentaire sont ainsi partie prenante de l’expérience sensible et politique de « l’année terrible » 1870-1871 à Paris.
