Ce numéro hors-série est composé de contributions issues d’un séminaire sur l’écologisation de l’agriculture et de l’alimentation et propose un bilan collectif de la construction de cet objet par la sociologie de l’environnement. À partir de terrains et enquêtes portant sur les pratiques professionnelles, l’action publique, les mobilisations citoyennes ou la production de connaissances scientifiques, nous avons souhaité interroger l’évolution et la diversité des analyses sociologiques des processus d’écologisation. Cette diversité se retrouve dans la nature des relations qui se nouent entre l’interprétation sociologique et les contextes sociaux et idéologiques dans lesquels elle s’inscrit. Elle s’exprime aussi dans l’évolution des cadres théoriques et épistémologiques qui sont questionnés ici sous un angle « générationnel » mettant en perspective les travaux pionniers issus de la sociologie rurale avec le déploiement de nouvelles sociologies. Cette mise en perspective, y compris par une comparaison internationale avec la sociologie brésilienne, offre un espace de débat collectif propice à la transmission des ancrages historiques de la sociologie de l’environnement.
