Time-resolved X-ray excited optical luminescence (TRXEOL) from ZnO quantum dots: tracking hot-electron thermalization using luminescence dynamics
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Time-resolved X-ray excited optical luminescence from uniform, perfectly crystalline ZnO quantum dots (QDs) (∼10 nm in diameter) excited using a 35 ps synchrotron light pulse from the Canadian Light Source with 570 ns repetition is reported. The experiment was performed with excitation at the O K-edge and recorded using an optical streak camera, which monitors simultaneously the signal in both the energy and time domain. It is found that the ZnO QD only emits at its optical band gap of ∼380 nm and the decay within the first 20 ns can be described by two exponentials. The decay lifetime is excitation energy dependent—the optical decay is faster with excitation energy just above the O K-edge than just below and becomes progressively faster with increasing excitation energy above the O K-edge in the XANES region. This behaviour is attributed to the redistribution of excitation sites near the surface of the QD and a change in the thermalization dynamics resulting from the introduction of O KLL Auger electrons turned on by O 1s excitation.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
