Aim: This study studies maximal mouth opening (MMO) in Indian children of Udaipur city, Rajasthan, to define the normal range in children without functional masticatory system problems and the link between mouth opening, age, gender, height, and body weight. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional observational study investigated the MMO in Indian children. A total of 352 children participated and were divided into three age categories: Group 1 consisted of children aged 6-8 years, Group II comprised those aged 8.1-10 years, and Group III included children aged 10.1-12 years. Height and weight were recorded. Results: Participants had a mean MMO of 44.02 ± 4.03 mm, with MMO values of 40.99 ± 3.13 mm, 44.82 ± 3.12 mm, and 46.40 ± 3.77 mm for Groups I, II, and III. Boys had a higher mean MMO score than girls, although the difference was not significant. A positive connection between MMO and both height and weight was recorded. Conclusion: There is no difference between boys and girls for either gender. The relationship between height and weight is not only significant but also positively correlated.
