Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract Eastern Canadian varved clay soils cover a large part of Northwestern Québec. In Témiscamingue, a varved clay deposit was formed by the former glacial freshwater lakes Barlow-Ojibway. Two types of units of varves are observed in this glaciolacustrine clay deposit, namely distal varves and proximal varves. Although these soils are generally considered less sensitive than the marine clays of eastern Canada, recent Light Detection and Ranging investigations have suggested the occurrence of several highly retrogressive landslides in the area covered by these deposits. A research project was therefore carried out to investigate one of these retrogressive landslides in the municipality of Duhamel-Ouest, Québec, on the north side of the Petite rivière Blanche. The investigated landslide has a width and a retrogression of 400 m and 185 m, respectively. In situ and laboratory investigations revealed that the distal varve deposit exhibits highly retrogressive landslide-prone characteristics, with liquidity index ranging between 1.00 and 1.53, with an average of 1.35. This study gives a detailed description of this landslide and highlights the fact that highly retrogressive landslides can occur in glaciolacustrine clays that were never been leached.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
