Abstract
Les projets de développement éducatif menés par des pays du Nord dans les États en voie de développement profitent-ils essentiellement à ces derniers? Cette étude explore cette question en analysant la mise en place et les retombées multiformes issues du projet éducatif mené par la firme canadienne SOFATI au Cameroun dès 1987. L’analyse repose sur une variété de sources, notamment des archives écrites et iconographiques, ainsi que des témoignages d’anciens apprenants et enseignants. Ce partenariat a en fait bénéficié aux deux parties, puisque les constructions scolaires et la formation d’enseignants camerounais ont amélioré la qualité de l’enseignement technique au Cameroun tout en renforçant l’image et l’attractivité du Canada. Toutefois, le Cameroun demeure dépendant des partenaires extérieurs pour la réalisation de grands projets éducatifs. C’est pourquoi il convient de mettre l’accent sur le développement des capacités d’autonomisation dans tout projet d’assistance technique.
