Abstract
Purpose: Kidney normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) has the potential to enhance both organ preservation duration and assessment. However, as result of extended cold storage (CS) followed by 48 hours of NMP, we have identified pelvic bleedings as a prevalent injury in human kidneys perfused without mechanism for coagulation. Herein we describe and assess a new NMP perfusate formulation with coagulative properties to prevent this kidney injury during human kidney NMP.
